Grant Application Amorcriolo Scholarship
Sometimes, the hardest thing about college or graduate school is paying for it. Scholarships, grants and work-study can help, but to fill the financial aid gap, most students will need to take out loans. The Amorcriolo Scholarship Fund is a nonprofit organization founded to provide grants to promote education within our Cape Verdean communities. The organization is comprised of members from the local community and school district. Scholarship funding is raised through personal donations as well as a variety of sponsored community events and activities.
Who is eligible?
Cape Verdean Students who are current seniors and o r c ollege students who complete the application by May 7, 2005 . Must provide acceptance letter or official transcript if current student
How are winners selected?
Winners will be selected anonymously (student name is removed from all application materials and student is assigned a code number) by a judging committee comprised of officers and members of the Amorcriolo Scholarship Committee. The judges will evaluate eligible students' high school and college records in relation to their goals, school and community service, financial need and other significant information. Winners will be notified by early August. The award ceremony will be held August 21 of every year. No materials will be returned to the candidate.
How much is the scholarship?
Each winner will receive an equal scholarship between $1000 and $2000. Scholarship checks will be disbursed directly to the student when the treasurer of the Amorcriolo Scholarship Committee receives confirmation that the student has been enrolled full time at the school identified in the application.
